Google Analytics certification is free

If you or a client are worried about your lack of technology skills, you can get certified in Google Analytics free. This might be especially helpful for anyone working in marketing (campaigns), brand management, advertising, PR, social media, working with influencers, etc. It can help content writers who aren't experts in social media, but want to show they have some tech skills in audience tracking.

While you or a client are looking for work, it might be a good idea to add this to your list of technology skills. It can take several weeks or longer to study and finish the course, but again, it's free - as are the study materials.

https://analytify.io/how-to-get-google-analytics-certification/#:~:text=The%20Google%20Analytics%20certification%20exam%20is%20free%20of%20charge.

Anyone here certified and can you provide any info on your experience?

Online ATS scoring tools

What do you think of online tools that will evaluate a resume based on a specific set of standards such as the length of bullet points, clarity, action verbs, passive voice, and so on. Usually, those tools will give the resume a score over 100 that is claimed to indicate how successful it will be with an ATS.

I dont believe that the score of a resume would get, is a real indicator of how it will perform when applying to different jobs.

Coming from a technical background, I know that different types of ATS, different algorithms that ATS use, different data that ATS are trained with, aan all affect the score of a resume and the way its content is being perceived by ATS.

This gives the keywords a high level of important in determining the results instead of relying solely on metrics like the number of works in the bullet points.

So even if you get a 100/100 score this doesnt guarantee that your resume will have a high score if you are not tailoring it to the specific keywords in the job description.

What do you think about this? Does anyone have a different pov or experience with these tools?

I am curious how you educate your clients to modify the resume you create for future applications.
It seems that each job posting needs a bit of customization on the resume, and it does take skill to do this smoothly.
I have 1 or 2 ideas, but thought I would ask the professionals first!

We are updating our resume guide for the office. What do you recommend for verb tense? I have always recommended present tense for current positions and past tense for former positions. Has this changed in recent years. Any advice would be appreciated.

Conference names when not attending for professional development

My client is in the medical device/technology industry and attends conferences to support their sales team at booths and manage logistics. They plan on continuing to pursue jobs in the same industry. When someone is not an attendee at a conference for professional development, should conference names be included under the job section (vs. generically indicating national and international medical device/technology conferences)? My initial thought was to customize the resume by adding conference names when they would be applicable to a future employer. I welcome any/all insight and suggestions!

What does your workflow look like?

Hey everybody! I've had the good fortune of establishing a strong reputation and building a successful practice these last three years. Even though this is my full-time job, as a stay-at-home father to two very young children (one and three), I only get 3-4 hours to work in total each day. That includes administration and production.

As you may imagine, an efficient workflow is a high priority for me, and it has been a thorn in my side for a long time. I decided to pursue this with renewed vigor in 2023 and I'm testing consolidating my workflow into as few tools as possible, preferably low touch tools with automation and integration capabilities.

I would love some insights on how people manage their workflows, from prospect to close, along with all the administrative details. My 2023 setup is going well so far, but the trick is getting my various channels (LinkedIn, Upwork, referrals, etc.) funneled into one location, such as Trello.

It may seem trivial, but when you only have a few hours a day to do absolutely everything, including writing, it becomes critical to pare down the tools you use to manage your workflow.

I am working on a revision of an existing resume. The client worked from 2004 - 2022 for the same employer in various HR roles and has described those four positions with years spent in each role under a "Professional Experience" section. Following is an "Additional Professional Experience" section that describes three roles with three different companies. The current version of the resume doesn't include dates in this section. The client is trying to make it harder to guess her age by not listing the dates. Similar to not listing dates of graduation. I am concerned that it raises a red flag. Interested in hearing what others think. Since the jobs were so long ago, does it matter?

All,
My practice is growing and I'm in need of another coach and resume writer to work with our clients!

Career UpRising works with mid and late-career professionals (no early-career clients) to help them change careers or get better job search results. We've been in business since 2015 and have grown EVERY YEAR since and most notably through the pandemic.

The ideal candidate would be:
Both a career coach and writer (I could take just a Resume Writer if needed)
Holds a CPRW or similar credential
Able to take a consistent stream of clients (about 5-6 per month)

I'd welcome both experienced professionals or new coaches/writers (I'm happy to train!)
