Good thread on the May 20 Spotlight on You session talking about Best Practices for formatting, when to use different types and ATS compatibility. A great resource is always John Suarez's monthly column and samples. Most recent versions came be found in his blog here, archive copies are in the monthly Spotlight Magazine in the members only archives here.

Hi Margaret, I've been reading the archives and John's amazingly educational content thank you to John and the PARWCC. I'm looking for information on the column format and it's application. Is it now an option for creating an ATS-friendly resume?

CV or Resume?

When is it more appropriate to have a CV versus a resume? In other words, when do you know it is time to use a CV? Also, what is the main difference between the two?

Jessica, the term "CV" is used differently in the U.S. vs. GreatBritain/Canada/Middle East. In addition, academics use CVs, which include three different sections: teaching history, academic research background and publication samples.
