Any thoughts on disclosing COVID vaccination status on either cover letter or resume? Some employers are now requiring vaccines. Is there any advantage to disclosing this up front?

Interesting question. I hadn't even thought of it. I suppose if someone was applying to United or one of the known companies that are requiring vaccines (all healthcare here in CA), then getting it out of the way and open up front would be appropriate. Perhaps because in some circles it might be viewed "differently" my gut says to be very careful and not send out the information freely. I don't know. I'd be interested in others thoughts too. If I did it for a client, I think I would put it in the cover letter directly addressing the company policy of the organization the client was applying to.

I wouldn't unless that job description prompts it. Unfortunately, the vaccine is such a polarizing topic these days I wouldn't want anyone judging a client on anything other than skills.

My HIPPA sensor is starting to get twitchy around this topic. It’s proactively disclosing medical information which is protected by law on a need to know basis. It’s like proactively stating “No Kids, No Mental Illnesses, No Prescriptions, White, Male, Straight, No Drug Use, etc.” That’s just my initial thought on this issue.

I would not disclose on the resume or cover letter. It is not a skill. I would rather leave the topic to the onboarding. It is appropriate for candidates to know about the requirement employers have, so people can make appropriate decisions on if they want to apply.

I just saw this article in Forbes on this topic. I had to scroll back and find your post. It pretty much summed up our general consensus. https://www-forbes-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.forbes.com/sites/jackkelly/2021/09/20/should-your-vaccination-status-be-placed-on-a-linkedin-profile-and-rsum-career-experts-share-their-answers/amp/
